BIG
Changes For Reichert Celebration’s 2013 Equine
Chronicle Color Classic: Free Entry Fee*, No
Longer a Maiden Event, and Prize Money Awarded
as Riders Leave the Pen April
12, 2013 By: Brittany Bevis, Equine Chronicle
Reichert Celebration show management has just
relayed the exciting news that there are some
big changes in store for the 2013 Equine
Chronicle Color Classic Western Pleasure class.
Keeping with the original goal of promoting
color breed horses, trainers, and riders, many
of these changes were made in an effort to
increase participation and provide more
opportunities for the limited division
exhibitor.
One interesting change is that
the 2013 Equine Chronicle Color Classic will no
longer be strictly a maiden western pleasure
event. Historically, in order to compete in this
event at the Reichert Celebration, horses could
not have been shown prior to the class. Show
management hopes this change will help open up
the entry pool to additional 2-year-old horses
that would’ve otherwise not been able to
compete.
However, the idea of encouraging riders to
compete with maiden horses has not disappeared
altogether. There will be a Maiden Bonus
to be paid in the Open division of the
class and a considerable number of maiden horses
are expected to participate.
The biggest change is that there is NO ENTRY FEE
if entered by August 1, 2013. That’s right
folks, it’s not a typo. There will be no entry
fee for the 2013 Equine Chronicle Color Classic,
as long as riders enter before August 1st. Those
who choose to enter after that deadline will
need to pay a mere $250 entry fee. Also, any
decision to make a horse change after August 1st
will also be subject to a $250 entry fee.
As a result of this change, entries in both
the Open and Limited division are available to
anyone that would like to participate, as long
as those individuals meet the original “color
breed rider and trainer definition” and other
division requirements. Interested parties can
download entry forms at
www.ReichertCelebration.com. Once the entry
forms have been returned to the office, they
will be published to the Entry Owners list on
the Reichert Celebration website.
Another
big change that will please many exhibitors is
that prize money for the class will be paid as
exhibitors are leaving the show pen. At this
time, there is a minimum of $25,000 in added
money with the possibility of more to come.
